සිංහරාජ ක්ෂේත්‍ර චාරිකාව 2010 - YBA Sinharaja Field Trip

සිංහරාජ ට්‍රිප් එක යන්න මම බලාගෙන ඉඳියේ විභාගෙ ඉවර උන දවසෙ ඉඳලමයි. කොහොමහරි දවස් ගෙවිලා ගෙවිලා ඒ දවස පහුගිය සැප්තම්බර් 22 උදා උනා. එදා පාන්දර 1.30 ඉඳන් මට නින්දගියෙ නැත්තෙ ට්‍රිප් එක යන්න තිබුන කික් එක නිසමයි. පාන්දර 4 බස් එකට මමයි දිනුකයි සෙට් උනා. කලින් ගියේ එදා පෝය දවසක් නිසා බස් නැතිවෙයි කියල හිතලා. කොහොමහරි බස් එක 5.15 වෙද්දි නුගෙගොඩට ආවා. මාර කලුවරයි තාම. ෆැබ් එක ලඟ කවුරුත් නෑ. අපි තමා මුලින්ම ගිහින් තිබුනේ. සෑහෙන්න වෙලවක් එතන කට්ට කෑවා. ඔහොම ඉන්නකොට ටික ටික කට්ටිය එන්න ගත්තා.

YBA එකේ චාපා, තේජා අක්කි, ගයාෂානි අක්කි, තාරා, ශාන් අයියා ඇතුලු මගෙ ගොඩාක් යලුවෝ නුගෙගොඩට ආවෙ. අපි 7.30 විතර නුගෙගොඩින් එන්න පිටත් උනා. මහරගම සෙට් එකත් අරගෙන කොට්ටවෙන් Sir ඇතුලු ඉතුරු සියලු දෙනාවත් අරගෙන හොරණට අවා. හොරණින් සෙට් වෙන්න ඉඳියේ දර්ශනයි හශාන් අයියයි... දර්ශන උදේ 7 ඉඳන් හොරණ කට්ට කලා... පව් අප්පා. හොරණින් මතුගම හරහා අපි සිංහරාජයට අවා. එන ගමන් සින්දු කවි කරලා, කවි සින්දු කරලා වෙනම ලෝකෙක අපි අවේ. එතන සිංහරාජ වන නිවහනේ තමා දවල් කෑම ගත්තෙ. ගයාශානි අක්කා අපි හැමොටම ඇතිවෙන්න කෑම ගෙනත් තිබුනා. එය එච්චර මහත මොකද කියලා එදා තමා තේරුනේ.

අපි කාලා ඉවර වෙලා කැළේ ඇතුලට යන්න ready උනා. අපි සෙට් එක(තාරා,තේජා අක්කි,ගයාශානි අක්කි,දිනුක,දර්ශන & මම) ෆුල් ට්‍රයි කලේ මුලාවැල්ල trail එකෙ යන්න. එ උනාට කට්ටිය වැඩි කියල ඒක හරි ගියෙ නෑ. පස්සෙ තමා තේරුනෙ ඒක කොච්චර හොඳඳ කියලා.(මුලාවැල්ල trail එක ගොඩක් අමාරුයි, ගියානම් ගයාශානි & තේජා අක්කලව උස්සගෙන තමා මුලාවැල්ල කන්ද නගින්න වෙන්නෙ. තාරා කූඩැල්ලො දැකලා කෑ ගහපු හැටි කාලෙකට අමතක වෙන්නෑ.) අපි නවඳ ගහ trail එකේ යන්න සෙට් උනා. එදානම් සිංහරාජෙට වැස්සෙ නෑ. ඒ නිසා ගිය පාරට වඩා සත්ත්ව විශේෂ බලාගන්න පුලුවන් උනා. ඒකටනම් ගොඩක්ම සතුටුයි. ඒ අය සමහරක්ගෙ ඡායාරූප මගේ ඇල්බම් එකේ ඇති. කැලේ ඇතුලෙ නරඹලා අවසන් වෙලා අපි 6 විතර ආයිමත් සිංහරාජ වන නිවහන ලඟට ආවා.

අපි කලුවරේම එතනින් යන දිය පාරක නෑවා. හොඳටම සීතලයි එතන. මාර ෆන්. ඊට පස්සෙ ඉතින් එන්න පිටත් උනා. එනකොටත් බස් එක ඇතුලෙ සිංදු කිය කියා පිස්සු නට නටා ආවේ. මම, දිනුක & දර්ශන එන ගමන් හොරණින් බැස්සා. එහනින් බැස්සට හිතට හරි නෑ. තව ටිකක් දුර සෙට් එක එක්ක යන්න තිබුනනම් හොඳයි කියලා හිතුනා. ඒත් ගෙවල් වලටත් යන්න ඕනනේ. දිනුකගෙ තාත්තා අවිත් තිබුනා අපිව එක්ක යන්න. කොහොමහරි 11.30 විතර මම ගෙදර අවා. එදානම් මාරම සිරා ෆන් දවසක්. මේ note එක type කරද්දිත් ඒක මතක් වෙනවා.

YBA Annual Trip is on 22nd September,join us...

The Annual Trip of the Young Biologists' Association will be held on 22nd September (Poya holiday-Wednesday) We are planning got go Sinharaja & the buses will leave from the National Museum at 5.45 am.If you are coming to the Museum please be there by 5.30am.Then we will pick up people from Nugegoda (in front of the Fab) at 6.10 am, Maharagama (near the Bo tree) at 6.30 am, Kottawa (in front of the Seylan Bank) at 6.50 am and Ho...rana junction at 7.30 am.A representative of the YBA will be there in all this locations.We will send their names & contact details in future.
The fee is 500 Rs.Please hand it over with a properly filled application form to the YBA representative in each location before you get in to the bus.You can get an application form from our representatives.
As we are going to a very sensitive forest eco system please be kind enough to wear earth colors (green,brown,black)
We are planning to return to the Museum by 9.30 pm.

YBA Get 2gether

YBA organized the first ever get together for its 12 year history last month.It was held on 28th August at the Oppulant Banquet Hall.Many present & past members were present on this occasion including our Patron Dr.Hiran Amarasekara & members of the advisory board.This event was organized to improve the friendship between both present & past members & to provide them an opportunity to get to know each other.At the beginning of the event many past members expressed their thoughts & feelings about the YBA & shared their experiences with the new generation.the challenges they faced,the difficulties they had to overcome & the happy & fun memories they had.A slide show of old photographs taken during the past activities helped them to bring back their memories & share them with others.
After those "Rasa Katha" every one mixed up to have a chat & get to know others.The pleasant chat & laughter continued as they enjoyed a great meal & after that every one moved on to the dance floor.
During his final speech Dr.Hiran Amarasekara mentioned that YBA has already getting the attention of many people working in the environment & biology field in Sri Lanka as we have done many important stuff during the 12 years of our history & suggested that we should start reaching the rest of the world.With the strength of the new generation & the experiences of the first generation he believe that we are capable of achieving this feat.
In the end we would like to thank our Patron Dr.Hiran Amarasekara,members of the advisory board & all the members & committee members who helped to make this event a success & all the past members who participated to this event.We hope to meet them all & many others old & new,in the next get together :) Lets get together & serve our country & the environment.
